Founded in 1830, the Museum of Science is Boston’s largest not for profit organization and also the most popular indoor attraction in New England, with over 1.5 millions visitors annually. By involving participants in activities, exhibits and programs, the museum seeks to stimulate interest in and further understanding of science and technology and their importance for individuals and society. For over 15 years, the museum has forged strong connections with community organizations and leaders in an effort to broaden the availability of the Museum’s resources through Traveling Programs. Traveling Programs have helped bring science programs to over 81,000 students annually in schools, community centers, and libraries. These programs provide a special opportunity for schools that simply do not have the financial resources for a field trip to the museum. All funds raised during the marathon will support Traveling Programs.
