Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries' mission is to help individuals with barriers to self-sufficiency to achieve independence and dignity through work. Not charity, but a chance.
More than 8,400 individuals will embark on the path to jobs and economic independence this year, thanks to Goodwill’s employment training programs, career services, and broad-based programming for young people. Goodwill’s territory includes a total of 265 communities in eastern and central Massachusetts, but the majority of services are offered in low-income communities in Boston and help people with barriers to employment have a chance to pursue self-sufficiency and improve their lives.
Goodwill’s Boston Marathon team will raise funds for the Peter Morrissey Youth Fund, which supports Goodwill’s Youth Initiative. Young people from Massachusetts’ most underserved communities participate in the program and are supported academically, develop life and leadership skills, and explore the possibilities for their futures. These are vulnerable youth who face diverse and difficult obstacles. They need adult support and encouragement in order to thrive, and that is what they find in Goodwill’s Youth Initiative.
