2012 B.A.A. Invitational Mile

B.A.A. MIDDLE SCHOOL RACE EVENT DETAILS

Date: Sunday, April 15, 2012

Time: 9:30 a.m.: Girls Middle School 1,000 meters
               Boys  Middle School 1, 000 meters

Distance: 1,000 meters

Location: Boylston Street between Exeter Street and Dartmouth Street at the Boston Marathon Finish Line. 

Mile Course: A two lap, USATF-certified course that begins on  Boylston Street, left on Dartmouth Street, left on Newbury Street, left on Exeter Street then left onto Boylston ending at the Boston Marathon finish line.

Event: Middle School-aged boys and girls will compete on a 1,000-meter course, starting and finishing on the famous Boston Marathon finish line.  The field is comprised of two boys and two girls from each of the eight cities and towns along the Boston Marathon course; Hopkinton, Ashland, Framingham, Natick, Wellesley, Newton, Brookline, and Boston. 

The two sections of the Middle School 1,000 meter races precede the Scholastic and Professional sections of the B.A.A. Invitational Mile, and follow the B.A.A. 5K.

Field Size: There are 32 runners in total: 16 girls and 16 boys. Two Middle School-aged boys and girls are selected from each of the eight cities and towns along the Boston Marathon course. 

B.A.A. 2012 SCHOLASTIC RACES EVENT DETAILS

Time: 9:45 a.m.: Girls Scholastic Mile
               Boys  Scholastic Mile

Distance: One mile

Location: Boylston Street between Exeter Street and Dartmouth Street at the Boston Marathon Finish Line. 

The Course: A three lap, USATF-certified course that begins on  Boylston Street, left on Dartmouth Street, left on Newbury Street, left on Exeter Street then left onto Boylston ending at the Boston Marathon finish line. Each lap is 522 meters, plus 44 additional meters on the first lap before the runners first cross the finish line. 

Event: The Scholastic Invitational Mile features the top two boys and girls from the eight host cities and towns of the Boston Marathon.  The high school-aged athletes are selected by their coaches to compete in this one mile race.  It is an honor for these runners to represent their town and be part of historic race weekend.

Time: 10:00 a.m.: Women's Professional Mile
                 Men's Professional Mile

Distance: One mile

Location: Boylston Street between Exeter Street and Dartmouth Street at the Boston Marathon Finish Line. 

The Course: A three lap, USATF-certified course that begins on  Boylston Street, left on Dartmouth Street, left on Newbury Street, left on Exeter Street then left onto Boylston ending at the Boston Marathon finish line. Each lap is 522 meters, plus 44 additional meters on the first lap before the runners first cross the finish line. 

Event: The Men's and Women's Professional Races of the B.A.A. Invitational Mile feature elite men and women runners from across the country and around the globe, all of whom have an extensive list of running accomplishments, and many of whom are Olympians and National Champions.  They compete on a one mile course, and cross the same finish line that marathoners will the next day.  

Field Size: Eight professional men and eight professional women will compete in the one mile race.

                 2nd - $2,000

2010 - The Hoyts

When many think of the Boston Marathon, they think of Team Hoyt, the father/son team of Dick and Rick who have participated in their unique way 28 times. Dick was 69 at the 2010 Boston Marathon.
