Seats at the finish line at the Boston Marathon are very limited and are reserved only for official race partners. They are not sold by the B.A.A. Nearly the entirety of the Boston Marathon course, including space in view of the Boylston Street Finish Line, is open to the public on a first-come basis.

Please register using the name that you qualified with.  Upon confirmation of acceptance, please send proof of your name change (ie: copy of marriage certificate) to the Registration Office via email (registration@baa.org) or fax (508-435-6590) and we will update it for you. If it’s a case of a divorce, we ask for a copy of the name change portion of the divorce decree.  We can also take a copy of old and new driver’s license.

There will be a random selection component to the registration process for the 2015 B.A.A. Half Marathon when entries are accepted next week. The total field size for the event is 8,500 participants.

There are 2,640 runners currently pre-registered for the event though B.A.A. Distance Medley (B.A.A. 5K, B.A.A. 10K, and B.A.A. Half Marathon) registration held in January. An additional 700 runners will comprise the Dana-Farber Fundraising Team and each will raise at least $750 for the Jimmy Fund. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund have been the event's presenting sponsor since 2003. Once the elite field and other invitational entries are filled, this will leave approximately 5,000 entries available through online registration on July 15.

Registration will open on Wednesday, July 15, at 10:00 a.m. ET, and 2,000 entrants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The remaining 3,000 spots will be filled through random selection of applicants who submit an entry by Thursday, July 16, at 5:00 p.m. ET.

* Participants who have already registered for the B.A.A. Distance Medley during the registration period in January 2015 are already registered for the B.A.A. Half Marathon and should not re-register on July 15.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Entry for the B.A.A. Half Marathon will be held entirely online at www.baa.org, and the entry fee is $75 USD.
  • No additional fee will be imposed for an entry submission into the random selection.
  • Participants in the B.A.A. Half Marathon must be at least 14-years old on race day.
  • Every submission has an equal chance of being selected, and the odds of being selected will be based on the total number of submissions received.
  • Only one submission per person will be accepted.
  • Entry in the B.A.A. Half Marathon cannot be transferred, refunded, or deferred.
  • Those who are accepted through random selection and those not accepted will receive notification from the B.A.A. on Friday, July 17 via email.
  • If you are not chosen in the random selection, you will not be charged the entry fee.

Free shuttle services, the MBTA, and our drop-off/pick-up location are your best bet. There will be no parking at the event location. A:

All finishers will receive a B.A.A. Half Marathon medal. Prize money will be awarded equally to men and women, based on gun time. You can find more information here: Prize Money

Awards will be mailed at a later date to the top five finishers overall and top three push rim wheelchair division finishers, along with the first, second and third place finishers in the following age groups for both men and women: 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80+.

Participants who complete the course will receive a specially designed finisher's medal.

We are not able to provide transportation to the start from Boston for family or friends.

No. Massage services are not provided at the B.A.A. Half Marathon.

A:

Stop for assistance and direction at one of the 26 Red Cross aid stations along the course. Sweep buses pick up runners at every Red Cross station with drop-off at the finish area medical tent. Aid stations along the course close at staggered times during the day. Finish area facilities officially close six hours after the last runner crosses the start line in Hopkinton. (About 6:00 p.m.)

The 2016 charity program has not yet been evaluated, and we have not yet determined whether or not we will open an application process for additional non-profit organizations which seek to obtain entries for fundraising purposes. Please monitor this page over the summer for announcements about 2016.

B.A.A. Moment 2

1935 John A. Kelley

Born in West Medford, Massachusetts as one of ten children, Kelley ran track and cross-country at Arlington High School in Massachusetts. He did not finish his first Boston Marathon in 1928, but eventually competed in a record 61 Boston Marathons. A legend of the marathon, Kelley won the 1935 and 1945 runnings of the Boston Marathon. He finished in second place at Boston a record seven times. Between 1934 to 1950, he finished in the top five 15 times at Boston, consistently running in the 2:30s. He ran his last full marathon at Boston in 1992 at the age of 84, his 61st start and 58th finish there.
