Stop for assistance and direction at one of the 26 Red Cross aid stations along the course. Sweep buses pick up runners at every Red Cross station with drop-off at the finish area medical tent. Aid stations along the course close at staggered times during the day. Finish area facilities officially close six hours after the last runner crosses the start line in Hopkinton. (About 4:50 p.m.)

No, additional functions will not be held the night before the B.A.A. Half Marathon.

A:

All finishers will receive a B.A.A. Half Marathon medal.

Prize money will be awarded equally to men and women, based on gun time. Top finishers in the open, masters, team, and push rim wheelchair divisions will receive prize money from a total purse of nearly $40,000.

From 1st to 10th place, prizes are respectively as follows: $6,000, $4,000, $2,500, $1,500, $1000, $800, $600, $500, $400, $300.

Prizes for the top three athletes in the Master's Division (40-and-older) are: 1st: $300 2nd: $200 3rd: $100

Awards for the top three athletes in the Push Rim Wheelchair Division are: 1st: $500 2nd: $300 3rd: $200 Handcycle participants are not eligible to receive prize money awards in the push rim wheelchair division.

Awards will be presented to the top five finishers overall and top three push rim wheelchair division finishers, along with the first, second and third place finishers in the following age groups for both men and women: 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80+.

Participants who complete the course will receive a specially designed finisher's medal.

Replacement passports are available at the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo. Runners will need to present a photo ID to pick up their bib number.

The B.A.A. will broadcast every five kilometer split to its website and family and friends can track your progress by logging in and entering your name or bib number. The "face" of the Boston Marathon website will change on race day and the process on how to enter the search will be clear. The AT&T Athlete Alert program allows messages to be automatically delivered to any US mobile phone, a pager, or any email address.

Alerts will be broadcast when your runner crosses the starting line, reaches the 10K, half marathon and 30K marks, and from the finish line. Runners or their family and friends can register in three ways:

  • Via text message or SMS, (after registering, you'll receive a text message confirming how to complete registration).
  • Visiting the AT&T Athlete Alert Sign-Up page at the race website, www.baa.org, and sign up there. (This will be posted in March, 2013).
  • Registering in person. Representatives will be available in the Bib Number Pick-up area at the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo, Friday, April 12, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, April 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday, April 14, from 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

 We'll get you your medal at the same time we get you your mylar blanket, water, and other post-race refreshments.

After you receive your medal you will be directed to the baggage buses and changing facilities. The baggage busses are lined along Boylston Street, and are in numerical order based on bib numbers.

Yes, B.A.A. Half Marathon merchandise will be for sale in advance from Marathon Sports. In addition, adidas and Marathon Sports will be present on  Sunday, October 7 (Race Day) near the Number and T-shirt Pick-up Area at the start of the event.

We don’t want to have to disqualify anyone. However, if it can be verified that you moved from Wave 3 into Wave 2 or Wave 1, or from Wave 2 into Wave 1 you are subject to disqualification.

You can move back from Wave 1 into Wave 2 or Wave 3, or from Wave 2 into Wave 3, but you can not start in the first corral of a later wave.
