Participants in the B.A.A. Half Marathon will have their bib numbers mailed to them in advance of the race. Please remember to bring your bib number with you on the day of the event. If you have not received your bib number within one week of the event, please contact the B.A.A. at halfregistration@baa.org.

Please handle your bib with care. Your timing device will be attached to the back of your bib, and if it's bent too much, it will not record your time along the route.

Registrants of the B.A.A. Half Marathon should receive their bib number in the mail. If you do not receive your bib number by one week prior to the event, send a detailed e-mail to halfregistration@baa.org. If you are changing your address between now and the B.A.A. Half Marathon, please let the B.A.A. know, so your bib number is sent to your correct location.
A:
Bring a photo I.D. and / or proof of payment (cancelled check or credit card statement) to the registration area, and we will issue a new number. We will cancel your previous number, and void the timing device so that no one can misrepresent you.
A:
If your Number Pick Up Card does not reach you before race weekend, please be sure to bring a photo ID with you to Number Pick-Up at the John Hancock Sports and Fitness Expo located at the Hynes Convention Center. Go to the "Replacement Number Pick-Up Cards" booth near number pick-up, show your valid photo id, and a volunteer will print a new card for you. You will use that new card to pick up your number. We are requiring that all participants claim their own bib number at the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo during normal expo hours. Friends or family will not be allowed to claim your bib number for you.

A complimentary ticket is included with your bib number packet. A limited number of additional tickets for both the pre-race dinner and post-race party may be purchased at the “Party Tickets” Booth when you pick up your number. Tickets will NOT be available for sale on site at either event.

Just keep moving through the finish area. Your medal will be awarded to you with your water and post-race refreshments.

Just keep moving forward! We'll get you your medal at the same time we get you your mylar blanket, water, and other post-race refreshments.

Replacement passports are available at the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo. Runners will need to present a photo ID to pick up their bib number.

Free shuttle services, the MBTA, and our drop-off/pick-up location are your best bet. There will be no parking at the event location. Parking in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood is extremely limited, but some spots along the street may be available. For more details on our transportation program, click the button below:

The BibTag timing system will enable you to receive your official time (time from the starter's gun), as well as your net running time. The BibTag is affixed to your bib number and must be worn on your outer layer for the entire race for you to be scored and timed and for you to appear among the results as an official finisher. Please handle the tag with care, as bent or damaged tags may not work correctly.

 

B.A.A. Moment 1

1920 - Ashland Start

The Boston Marathon began in Ashland, Massachusetts from 1897 through 1923 then moved to Hopkinton for the 1924 race. The course was lengthened to 26 miles, 385 yards to conform to the Olympic standard, and the starting line was moved west from Ashland to Hopkinton. Since then, the race has started in Hopkinton every year.
