How are team results calculated in the Half Marathon?
While it is popular belief that in 1887 the B.A.A. founders chose the Unicorn as the organization’s symbol due to its place in mythology (Chinese and other mythologies regard the figure as an ideal and something to be pursued but which can never be caught), it is more likely that the Unicorn was borrowed from the coat of arms from one of the B.A.A.'s first families. Still, the now iconic Unicorn stands for striving for excellence.... even it can never be achieved.
Are B.A.A. 5K awards presented according to official ("gun") time or net time?
All prize money winners will be scored by gun time. All age group division awards will be awarded by net time.
Are bikes/strollers/skates/baby joggers/dogs allowed on the course of the B.A.A. 5K?
No. For safety reasons, strollers, in-line skates, skateboards, and vehicles of any kind, as well as animals, are not permitted.

Will my projected finish time from 2013 be accepted as a qualifying time for 2014?

Can I wear headphones in the Boston Marathon?
While the B.A.A. discourages the use of iPods and headphones, we do not impose a ban on wearing such devices in the Boston Marathon except for the elite men and women and all those eligible for prize money.
Many runners choose not to wear headphones, and instead listen to the crowd cheer them to Boylston Street.
I am a runner interested in joining a Boston Marathon official charity team. How can I apply?
Will my streak of consecutive Boston Marathon finishes be broken because I was unable to cross the finish line on Boylston Street?
Runners with an active, consecutive streak of Boston Marathon finishes of any length who started the 2013 Boston Marathon and reached the half marathon checkpoint or later but did not have the opportunity to cross the finish line on Boylston Street may count the 2013 Boston Marathon as an official finish and a preservation of their streak.
