No, please do NOT run if you have not been officially entered in the race. Race amenities along the course and at the finish, such as fluids, medical care, and traffic safety, are provided based on the number of expected official entrants. Any addition to this by way of unofficial participants, adversely affects our ability to ensure a safe race for everyone.

We cannot make hotel recommendations. The Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau has an extensive list of hotels in the Greater Boston area. Additionally, Marathon Tours and Travel is an official partner of the Boston Marathon, and they have rooms on hold at many hotels in the City of Boston.

Boston Marathon official Finishers’ Certificates and Racers’ Record Books are typically produced in May and June, and then mailed out in July. Delivery can take up to several weeks to be delivered. Please contact the registration office by sending an email with your current mailing address to registration@baa.org in early September if you do not receive either of these items.

Official Boston Marathon Merchandise will be on sale at the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo, several Boston sporting goods stores, in Copley Square Park and at the Family Meeting Area after the race. Before or after race weekend, merchandise may be ordered online or via mail-order directly from our licensees. Some of them may also have limited amounts of previous years’ merchandise available.

The John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo is open to the public and admission is free. The Hynes Convention Center is conveniently located in the center of Boston, in the Back Bay area. For more information about the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo, visit the Conventures website.

Your qualifying time is based on your age on the day of the Boston Marathon, thus your qualifying standard will be 3hrs 25 min - and you can be 44 when you run your qualifying race.

Portable toilets will be located at each fluid station. We've also added many portable toilets to the start and finish area.

Digital clocks, positioned at every mile and at the finish line, will indicate the unofficial time from the starter's gun.

Awards are presented to the top 10 men and women overall, and the top three men and women in the 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80+ division. They are also presented to the top five men and women in the push rim wheelchair division, the first man and woman in the wheelchair quad-class division and the top three men and women in the visually impaired division. Team awards are presented to the members of the first men’s and women’s open team and first men’s and women’s 40-and-over team.
