Registration for the 2018 Boston Marathon began on September 11, and the maximum number of athletes who qualified and applied for entry has now been reached. The Boston Marathon does not have a waiting list, late registration on race weekend, or race day registration. Neither entry nor bibs may be transferred.

The Boston Athletic Association today announced that head coach of its high performance team, Terrence Mahon, will depart the organization at the conclusion of 2017, to return to his home state of California. Since 2013, Mahon has led the high performance group of the B.A.A., with its athletes and teams winning races and accumulating podium finishes around the world. B.A.A. Athletic Performance Director Michael Pieroni and the continued support form adidas remain in place as the high performance team members train and compete.

Registration for the 2018 Boston Marathon opens on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. ET. The B.A.A. will use the same process to register qualified runners as it used in the 2012 through 2017 Boston Marathons, allowing the fastest qualifiers to register first.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced Marla Runyan as the organization’s first Athletes with Disabilities Manager. This position will dedicate its attention to the growing field of athletes with disabilities participating in all B.A.A. races and community service programming.

The Boston Athletic Association has appointed Jack Fleming as its Chief Operating Officer. Fleming had been serving as the B.A.A.’s Director of Marketing and Communications. The promotion complements the previous appointment of Tom Grilk as Chief Executive Officer.

SUH Yun-Bok, the 1947 Boston Marathon champion from Korea, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 94. Suh was the first Asian champion of the Boston Marathon, setting a then-world record of 2:25:39. It was the first world record ever set on the roads leading to Boston. Suh was an Olympian in 1948, and served as a sports administrator in South Korea for many years.

Boston Marathon participants who ran on behalf of more than 200 non-profit organizations raised $34.2 million for charity in the 121st year of the historic race. The fundraising total represents a twelve percent increase, or $3.6 million, over 2016's results.

On a picture-perfect summer morning for racing through downtown Boston, Kenya’s Daniel Chebii and Joan Chelimo ran to victories at the seventh annual B.A.A. 10K, presented by Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Chebii retained his title with a time of 27:58, while Chelimo earned her first win in Boston in 31:24. A total of 8,135 participants completed this year’s race, which started and finished at Boston Common.

On Sunday, June 25, 2017, the Boston Athletic Association will host the seventh annual B.A.A. 10K, presented by Brigham and Women’s Hospital, which will be the B.A.A.’s first event following its successful 121st Boston Marathon on Monday, April 17.

The 2017 B.A.A. 10K, presented by Brigham and Women’s Hospital, will feature one of the strongest fields in race history, bringing together Boston Marathon champions, Olympians, and global medalists on the roads of Boston. The seventh annual race will be held on Sunday, June 25, starting and finishing on Charles Street adjacent to Boston Common. Racing on one of the fastest courses in the world, the event will showcase Boston’s Back Bay and Beacon Hill neighborhoods.
