Registration for the 2014 Boston Marathon will re-open on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. ET and will continue through Friday, September 20, 2013 at 5:00P p.m.

Some of those who submitted their entry for the 2014 Boston Marathon have received confirmation from the B.A.A. Most of those who have not received confirmation of acceptance by email from the B.A.A. are still having their qualifying performance validated and verified.

Registration for the 2014 Boston Marathon opens on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 10:00AM (ET) for those Qualifiers who have met the qualifying standard by 20 minutes, 00 seconds or faster.

Registration for the 2014 Boston Marathon will open on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. ET. The B.A.A. will use the same process to register qualified runners as it used in the 2012 and 2013 Marathons, allowing the fastest qualifiers to register first.

Registration will be held entirely online at www.baa.org. The qualification window for the 2014 Boston Marathon began last year on September 22, 2012.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced that registration for the 13th B.A.A. Half Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, has closed after its 7,500 entrant field size limit was reached. The B.A.A. Half Marathon will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2013 and will be the third and final race in the 2013 B.A.A. Distance Medley. Registration opened on Wednesday, July 17 at 10:00 a.m. ET and closed approximately 12 minutes later at 10:12 a.m. ET.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced that registration for the 13th B.A.A. Half Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, will begin on Wednesday, July 17 at 10:00 a.m. ET. Registration will be held online at www.baa.org and will be limited to 7,500 entrants. The cost to register is $65 USD. The B.A.A. Half Marathon will begin on Sunday, October 13 at 8:30 a.m. in Boston’s Franklin Park.

A warm and sunny morning with temperatures reaching the low 80s (F) by the race’s conclusion welcomed runners to Boston Common on Sunday, June 23 for the Third B.A.A. 10K. Kenya’s Stephen Sambu, 24, won the men’s title in a time of 28:06 over 2013 Boston Marathon® champion Lelisa Desisa, 23, of Ethiopia, who finished in 28:15.

With a well-executed kick in the race’s final meters, Sambu outlasted Desisa who returned to Boston for the first time since April and who later gifted his Boston Marathon champion’s medal to Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino prior the awards ceremony.

John Hancock Financial and the Boston Athletic Association today announced that the 2013 Boston Marathon champion, Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia, will gift his championship medal to the City of Boston, on behalf of all Boston Marathon runners, to honor the victims and families affected by the tragic events of April 15, 2013.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced that 2013 Boston Marathon® men's champion Lelisa Desisa, of Ethiopia, will compete in the 2013 B.A.A. 10K on Sunday, June 23. Desisa will compete among Olympic and World Championship finalists, national record holders, and the defending champions of the B.A.A. Distance Medley. The B.A.A. 10K is the second race of the 2013 B.A.A. Distance Medley, a three-race series which awards $100,000 USD to the male and female with the fastest cumulative time from the three races. In addition, the B.A.A. 10K offers a combined prize purse of nearly $30,000 USD.

1935 John A. Kelley

Born in West Medford, Massachusetts as one of ten children, Kelley ran track and cross-country at Arlington High School in Massachusetts. He did not finish his first Boston Marathon in 1928, but eventually competed in a record 61 Boston Marathons. A legend of the marathon, Kelley won the 1935 and 1945 runnings of the Boston Marathon. He finished in second place at Boston a record seven times. Between 1934 to 1950, he finished in the top five 15 times at Boston, consistently running in the 2:30s. He ran his last full marathon at Boston in 1992 at the age of 84, his 61st start and 58th finish there.
