The 12th B.A.A. Half Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, will be run on Sunday, October 7th and will culminate the B.A.A. Distance Medley.

The three-race series, which combines the B.A.A. 5K, B.A.A. 10K, and B.A.A. Half Marathon, will award $100,000 each to the male and female champion. The winner will be determined by cumulative gun time across all three races. The B.A.A. Half Marathon starts and finishes at Boston’s Franklin Park. The course encompasses much of Boston and Brookline’s Emerald Necklace park system.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced that a field of world class runners will compete in the 12th B.A.A. Half Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, on Sunday, October 7. The race will start and finish in Boston’s Franklin Park.

BOSTON – The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) announced today that registration for the 2013 Boston Marathon® will continue on Monday, September 24 at 10:00 a.m. ET for runners who have met the qualifying standards necessary for the submission of their application.  Following an initial two-week, rolling admission registration period, which began on September 10 and concluded on Friday, September 21 at 5:00 p.m. ET, the B.A.A. will accept applications until the maximum field size is reached.

With registration now underway for next year's Boston Marathon, the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) announced the charities which will comprise its Official Charity Program for the 117th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 15, 2013.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) issued a reminder today that registration for the 2013 Boston Marathon will open at 10:00 a.m. ET on Monday, September 10, 2012. This registration process, also utilized in 2011, will allow the fastest qualifiers to register first. The registration period will continue until Friday, September 21 at 5:00 p.m. ET, or until the field size is reached. Race registration will be held entirely online at www.baa.org.

What an upset for Kenyan marathon running! After a disappointing showing of the Kenyan middle and long distance men on the track at the London Olympics the marathoners were  aiming to make up for the disappointment on the last day of the Games but failed.

In a thrilling battle Kenya versus Ethiopia, it wasn’t until a mile to go, when Ethiopians Tiki Gelana took the lead and finished the women’s Olympic Marathon race in a new Olympic Record of 2:23:07 hrs. With this win she also scored her first WMM points. Priscah Jeptoo of Kenya came in second, clocking 2:23:12 hrs. With this silver medal Jeptoo is now in 4th place with 40 points in the WMM leaderboard.
