Registration for the 2015 Boston Marathon has now closed. The registration process for the 2015 Boston Marathon began on September 8, and the maximum number of athletes who ran a qualifying performance and submitted their application for entry has now been reached. Registration will not reopen on Monday, September 22.

Registration for the 2015 Boston Marathon will reopen on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. ET and will continue through Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. ET.

During this period, any eligible qualifier may submit an application for entry.  Entry is not first-come, first-served during this period.

Registration for the 2015 Boston Marathon opens on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. ET. The B.A.A. will use the same process to register qualified runners as it used in the 2012, 2013, and 2014 Boston Marathons, allowing the fastest qualifiers to register first.

General registration for the 2015 Boston Marathon will open on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. (ET) for those qualifiers who have met the qualifying standard by 20 minutes, 00 seconds or faster.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has set a field size of 30,000 entrants for the 2015 Boston Marathon. Registration for the 2015 Boston Marathon will open on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. ET. The B.A.A. will use the same process to register qualified runners as it used for the Boston Marathon in 2012, 2013 and 2014, allowing the fastest qualifiers in their gender and age group to register first.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today concluded registration for the 2014 B.A.A. Half Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. Registration began on Wednesday, July 16 at 10:00 a.m. ET, and continued through Thursday, July 17 at 5:00 p.m. ET. The B.A.A. Half Marathon will be held on Sunday, October 12 and has a start time of 8:30 a.m. ET. The B.A.A. Half Marathon is the third and final race in the 2014 B.A.A. Distance Medley, which also includes the B.A.A. 5K in April and the B.A.A. 10K in June.

Four outstanding, female distance and middle distance runners have joined the Boston Athletic Association, the organization has announced. Elaina Balouris, Juliet Bottorff, and Emily Lipari completed their collegiate eligibility in June, and they will reside and train in Boston, representing the B.A.A.

Participants running on behalf of non-profit organizations raised $38.4 million for charity this year in the 118th running of the Boston Marathon. The 2014 figure is a record amount and nearly doubles the $20 million raised in 2013.

2630 runners are two-thirds finished the 2014 B.A.A. Distance Medley. The B.A.A. Half Marathon on Sunday, October 12 will conclude the 2014 B.A.A. Distance Medley, the three-race series which combines the B.A.A. 5K, the B.A.A. 10K, and the B.A.A. Half Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.

1920 - Ashland Start

The Boston Marathon began in Ashland, Massachusetts from 1897 through 1923 then moved to Hopkinton for the 1924 race.  Since then, the race has started in Hopkinton every year.
