With less than two weeks until the 118th Boston Marathon® on Monday, April 21, 2014, the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) outlined changes to this year’s event. As it has since its inception in 1897, the Boston Marathon will be held on Patriots’ Day, a civic holiday commemorating the Battles of Lexington and Concord. For the 29th consecutive year, John Hancock Financial Services is the principal sponsor of the Boston Marathon, the world’s oldest annual marathon. Participants will follow the historic 26.2-mile course, which starts on Main Street in rural Hopkinton and finishes on Boylston Street in Boston’s Back Bay. This year’s race will see changes in some areas for participants, spectators, and the public.
