Buzunesh Deba of Ethiopia has been named the winner of the 2014 Boston Marathon, following the disqualification of Rita Jeptoo from the event. Deba finished in a time of 2:19:59. As a result, she becomes the course record holder. Her performance bested that of Margaret Okayo, who ran 2:20:43 in 2002.

The Boston Athletic Association announced today that the 2016 performance of Shalane Flanagan at the B.A.A. 10K, presented by Brigham and Women’s Hospital is officially a new course record and a new American record. The performance was recently ratified at the USA Track & Field Annual Meeting, after the course distance was verified and a review of the race was complete. Flanagan’s performance on June 26 beat her previous US record of 31:03 which she set in September of 2015. It bettered the previous course record by 12 seconds.

After spending five and a half weeks training at high altitude in Mammoth Lakes, California, the B.A.A. High Performance Team is back in Boston and ready for the upcoming racing season. Guided by B.A.A. High Performance Coach Terrence Mahon, seven of the nine members of the B.A.A. High Performance team spent time in California.

With memories of last year's Boston Mayor's Cup Cross Country Meet fresh in their minds, both Liv Westphal and Jim Spisak were motivated to finish atop the podium at today's meet in historic Franklin Park. After placing second a year ago, the pair used experience to their advantage and surged to the top of the podium thanks to strong moves in the middle miles. Hosted by the the B.A.A. and USATF New England, the Mayor's Cup Cross Country meet brought together runners of all ages on a clear but extremely windy day.

On a picture-perfect day for cross country, seventeen schools and more than 300 youth student-athletes from the City of Boston competed at today's 20th annual Boston Middle School Cross Country Championships, hosted by the Boston Athletic Association with adidas at Franklin Park. The Championships are held with the support of the Boston Public Schools and the Boston Parks & Recreation Department.

Experience proved to be the difference maker here at the 16th annual B.A.A. Half Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. Kenyans Daniel Salel and Mary Wacera pushed through relentless rainfall and blustery winds to claim victory, defending their titles in 1:03:13 and 1:10:19, respectively. Both Salel and Wacera came to Boston eyeing a second straight win, and got the job done with defiant moves.

The Boston Athletic Association announced today the elite field for the 16th annual B.A.A. Half Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. Headlining the professional field are both B.A.A. Half Marathon defending champions Daniel Salel and Mary Wacera. The B.A.A. Half Marathon will be run on Sunday, October 9, 2016, beginning and finishing in Boston’s Franklin Park.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today continued its notification to applicants of their acceptance into the 2017 Boston Marathon®. In preparation for the 2017 Boston Marathon, the B.A.A. implemented the same registration process for qualified runners as it used in the 2012 through 2016 Boston Marathons, allowing the fastest qualifiers to register first. The 121st Boston Marathon will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 and will mark the 32nd consecutive year that the event will have John Hancock Financial as its principal sponsor.

Registration for the 2017 Boston Marathon has now closed. The registration process for the 2017 Boston Marathon began on September 12, and the maximum number of athletes who ran a qualifying performance and submitted their application for entry has now been reached.
