Exclusive three-race registration window to remain open for one week.

BOSTON – The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced that registration for the inaugural 2012 B.A.A. Distance Medley will begin at 10:00 a.m. ET on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, and continue until Wednesday January 31 at 5:00 p.m. ET. During this exclusive medley registration window, runners interested in running all three of the B.A.A. Distance Medley events will have the opportunity to sign up for the three-race series. Medley registration will be held entirely online at www.baa.org.

The B.A.A. Distance Medley will begin with the B.A.A. 5K on April 15, 2012, followed by the B.A.A. 10K on June 24, and the B.A.A. Half Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund on October 7.  Each of the three races will have its own prize purse. In addition, the male and female B.A.A. Distance Medley champions will earn $100,000 in prize money.  The individual male and female champions will be determined by their cumulative time over the three races.

Everyone who completes all three races will be awarded a special commemorative medal for the series in addition to receiving a finisher’s medal for each race.  Those who register for the B.A.A. Distance Medley will have their performances posted to the B.A.A.’s Distance Medley web page and will be issued special bib numbers in each of the three races, indicating they are B.A.A. Distance Medley participants.

The week-long B.A.A. Distance Medley registration window of January 25 – 31 is only available to runners who would like to sign up for all three events. Minimum age for the B.A.A. In addition to the registration date for the three-race B.A.A. Distance Medley, the B.A.A. has established the registration dates for the individual events if space remains available at the close of the B.A.A. Distance Medley registration.
