B.A.A. Men Take Fifth, Women Are Sixth, at 2011 USATF National Club Cross Country Championships
Timothy Ritchie and Brian Harvey both recorded top 25 finishes, placing 13th and 21st respectively, to lead the B.A.A. Men's Open Team to a fifth-place finish at the USATF National Club Cross Country Championship in Seattle, WA on Saturday, December 10, 2011. The pair had spectacular runs in a highly competitive field and improved upon their 26th and 32nd place finishes from 2010. Despite the fact that the men scored just 5 more points than the 174 that they scored last year - a total that earned them third place - the 2011 race proved to be that much more competitive with their 179 points pushing them back to fifth. In the Men's Master's race, USATF New England Master's Cross Country Champion Pete Hammer placed an impressive 6th overall.

In the Open Women's 6k Championship, the trio of Diana Bowser, Kasie Enman, and Jeannette Faber, all finished within ten seconds and eight places of one another to lead the women to a sixth place finish overall, an improvement over their eighth-place finish in the 2010 championship. Bowser, Enman, and Faber, along with Lucas Meyer, the men's third finisher in 50th place, all switched gears for the weekend, taking a break from their training for the US Olympic Team Trials Men's and Women's Marathons, which will take place in Houston on Saturday, January 14, 2012.

More than 1,100 athletes competed at the 14th annual USATF National Club Cross Country Championships, held Saturday, December 10th in Seattle, WA. The championship featured the Men’s Open and Master's 10-kilometer and the Women’s Open and Master's 6-kilometer races. Among the competitors were some of America's top post-collegiate athletes and club teams from across the United States.
