Registration is Now Available for Summer Races
Register for the Inaugural B.A.A. 10k on Sunday, June 26, 2011

Come and join the 2011 Boston Marathon Champions, Geoffrey Mutai and Caroline Kilel, for a competitive 10k along Boston’s Commonwealth Avenue Mall, with a start and finish location at Boston Common. The race will begin at 8:00 AM on Sunday, June 26, 2011. Registration for the Inaugural B.A.A. 10k is still open. Summer Racing Schedule

Summer racing opportunities for B.A.A. Running club members have been posted on the website. Any club member wishing to participate in these club-sponsored races, please go to the 'Event' section of the members' website for race information and registration instructions. The 2011 summer races are:

Sunday, June 5th, Rhody 5k, Lincoln, RI

Sunday, July 17th, Stowe 8 Miler, Stowe, VT

Thursday, July 21st, Jim Kane Sugar Bowl 5 Mile, South Boston, MA

Saturday, July 30 Carver Cranberry 5 Mile, Carver, MA

1996 - Centennial Boston Marathon

The historic centennial Boston Marathon in 1996 was monumental for many reasons. It was the not only the first time that the ChampionChip timing and scoring device was used in a major US Marathon, but it was the largest running event ever held at the time. 

The starting field of 38,708 stood for more than seven years as the largest in the history of the sport. Included among the finishers were 16 Boston champions.
