Registration for 2012 Summer Races Now Available
Register for the B.A.A. 10k on Sunday, June 24, 2012

Register for this competitive 10k along Boston’s Commonwealth Avenue Mall, with a start and finish location at Boston Common. The race will begin at 8:00 AM on Sunday, June 24, 2012. Registration for the B.A.A. 10k is still open. For additional information and to register, go to http://www.baa.org/races/10k.aspx .


Summer Racing Schedule

Summer racing opportunities for B.A.A. Running Club members have been posted on the website. Any club member wishing to participate in these club-sponsored races, please go to the 'Event' section of the members' website for race information and registration instructions. The 2012 summer races are:

Saturday, May 19th, Bedford Rotary 12k, Bedford, NH

Sunday, June 10th, Newton 10k, Newton, MA

Thursday, July 19th, Jim Kane Sugar Bowl 5k, South Boston, MA

Thursday, July 26th, Marathon Sports 5 Mile, Weston, MA

Saturday, July 28 Carver Cranberry 5 Mile, Carver, MA

1996 - Centennial Boston Marathon

The historic centennial Boston Marathon in 1996 was monumental for many reasons. It was the not only the first time that the ChampionChip timing and scoring device was used in a major US Marathon, but it was the largest running event ever held at the time. 

The starting field of 38,708 stood for more than seven years as the largest in the history of the sport. Included among the finishers were 16 Boston champions.
