Updates on the Oval: Ritchie, Markowitz Notch Wins at Twilight Meet
For the second consecutive week, the B.A.A. had a strong showing at the NBB Twilight Series. Running Saturday. May 19th, Tim Ritchie won the 1500m in 3:47:21. David Chorney placed 5th in the same race with his 3:51.31.

In the men's 10k, Jared Markowitz picked-up another win for the B.A.A., posting a 41 second victory to finish in 30:47.21. In the 3,000m steeple, Eric Ashe took the runner-up spot in 8:52.77 - just .04 seconds behind the winner.

The next Twilight Meet will be held at Bentley University on Saturday, June 2nd.

1920 - Ashland Start

The Boston Marathon began in Ashland, Massachusetts from 1897 through 1923 then moved to Hopkinton for the 1924 race. The course was lengthened to 26 miles, 385 yards to conform to the Olympic standard, and the starting line was moved west from Ashland to Hopkinton. Since then, the race has started in Hopkinton every year.
