CANCELLED: Sunday, February 17 'Down the Hatch' Long Run
Due to the current road conditions and the potential for additional snowfall on Saturday into Sunday, the group long run scheduled for Sunday, February 17th, has been cancelled. Although training is important, common sense and safety outweigh the need to get out there on the roads as a group. We appreciate your understanding, as the safety of club members is our primary concern.

The next B.A.A. Running Club event will be the Amherst 10 Miler in Amherst, MA on Sunday, February 24, 2013. If you wish to compete in this race, please email swalmsley@baa.org by Tuesday, February 19th.

The next group long run will be a 'Down the Hatch' Run on Sunday, March 10th. The club will also be participating in the New Bedford Half Marathon on Sunday, March 17th. For details and entry deadlines for the upcoming events, go to the Events Calendar on the website and click on the corresponding date.

The Boston Marathon began in Ashland, Massachusetts from 1897 through 1923 then moved to Hopkinton for the 1924 race. The course was lengthened to 26 miles, 385 yards to conform to the Olympic standard, and the starting line was moved west from Ashland to Hopkinton. Since then, the race has started in Hopkinton every year.
