Biggsteps Race to Honor B.A.A. Member Sean Biggs
The Sean D. Biggs Memorial Foundation will be conducting a 5k race in Neeedham on Sunday, November 10th to honor Sean Biggs, a member of the B.A.A. Running Club, who passed away in September 2012 after a brief battle with cancer. Sean was an active member of the club for eight years. He competed regularly for the B.A.A. in a variety of races including six Boston Marathons between 2006 and 2011, his best coming in 2009 where he posted a 2:58:37.

All proceeds from the race will go to the Sean D. Biggs Memorial Foundation whose mission is to raise awareness of the causes and prevention of cancer; assist those affected by cancer; and support cancer research. Consistent with the vision of Sean Biggs, the Foundation also funds collegiate scholarships for study abroad and in the fields of alternative energy and energy efficiency.

1935 John A. Kelley

Born in West Medford, Massachusetts as one of ten children, Kelley ran track and cross-country at Arlington High School in Massachusetts. He did not finish his first Boston Marathon in 1928, but eventually competed in a record 61 Boston Marathons. A legend of the marathon, Kelley won the 1935 and 1945 runnings of the Boston Marathon. He finished in second place at Boston a record seven times. Between 1934 to 1950, he finished in the top five 15 times at Boston, consistently running in the 2:30s. He ran his last full marathon at Boston in 1992 at the age of 84, his 61st start and 58th finish there.
