CAREER NOTES:
Gebre Gebremariam is one of the many runners whose 10,000 meter PR on the track is better than his 10K best on the road. At Boston he hopes to bring the latter (27:41) closer to the former (26:52.33, Hengelo, 2007).

His two previous road races this year saw him equal his personal best in the half-marathon, 1:00:25, and run a sensational 2:04:53 at the Boston Marathon, a brilliant follow-up winning his marathon debut at New York City last November. 2:08:13

No other runner can match the cross-country credentials of Gebremariam, which include a gold medal at the 2009 world championships.

His wife, Werknesh Kidane, ran 2:26:15 at Boston, making them the fastest marathon couple in history.
