Event Information: Boston Marathon Clinic Series

Let us help you get from Hopkinton to Boston

Hosted by the B.A.A. and in cooperation with our sponsors, race officials, staff, and experts, these clinics will get you ready to run your best Boston Marathon. The clinics are free and open to officially registered athletes in the 2018 Boston Marathon and their guests (space is limited). Each clinic begins at 6:00 p.m., last approximately one hour, and will be held at the Boston Marathon adidas RunBase. Check out the video to see more!

CLINIC FORMAT

  • 5:30 - 6:00 p.m.: Meet and Greet - Interact with B.A.A. staff, officials, and experts before the clinic begins.
  • 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.: Presentation - Each clinic concentrates on various topics and will feature experts in their field.

RACE PREPARATION

B.A.A. Coaches and Staff will be on hand to answer all your questions, from taper training to race day logistics and more. We'll go over the final two weeks before Marathon Monday, and will help get you ready to run your best on Patriots' Day. The clinic will begin at 6:00 p.m. and last approximately one hour.

MONDAY, MARCH 19
 

THE LONG RUN AND TAPERING FOR THE RACE

Join B.A.A. coaches and officials for the next Boston Marathon Training Clinic at Boston Marathon adidas RunBase on March 19! In our next clinic, we’ll discuss final long run preparations, the art of tapering, and will talk about the final month of training before race day. B.A.A. coaches will answer your questions and help prepare you for a successful Marathon Monday. The clinic will begin at 6:00 p.m. and last approximately one hour.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16
 

STRETCHING, INJURY PREVENTION, AND COURSE PREVIEW

B.A.A. coaches, officials, and a few special guests will help make sure your training is on track for April, covering everything from stretching to injury prevention. Clinicians from Equinox will lead a stretching session and representatives from Newton Wellesley Hospital will answer your injury prevention questions.

This will be followed by B.A.A. coach Michael McGrane taking guests on a guided tour through the early portion of the Boston Marathon route. The clinic will also feature a Q&A discussion covering marathon training and our B.A.A. Training Plans!

WINTER TRAINING TIPS & TRAINING CHECK-IN

With 14 weeks to go, are you on pace? Has training gone as planned? What about training during the winter months? Join us for our second training clinic as our coaching staff gives you some valuable tips on getting through those dark and cold days. Our team will help make sure you’re staying the course and getting ready for April.

Start your training plan off the right way with help from B.A.A. High Performance coach Terrence Mahon. Learn about all the phases of the training plans, how to pace yourself properly in training runs, and make sure you are preparing for the Boston Marathon course.
