Event Information: As Massage Therapist

Are you a Massage Therapist?

We are looking for Licensed Massage Therapists to join our team. We provide Pre- and Post-Event massage to our athletes. We accept students onto the team only of they are accompanied by their instructor; no lone students will be accepted. When registering online, please complete the Medical Application when prompted.

Massage - Pre-Event

Meeting Place: Back Bay Grand, John Hancock Hall
Expected Duration: 5:30 A.M. - Noon
Captain: Jeff Forrest, LMT
A pre-race massage team will work at the Athletes’ Village in Hopkinton. Massage therapists provide pre-event therapy, including emergency cramp management and care for injuries. Volunteers will distribute water, assist with table set-up, move supplies, and escort athletes. Therapists are responsible for supplying their own equipment.

Massage - Post-Event

Meeting Location: Back Bay Grand, John Hancock Hall
Expected Duration: 11:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M.
Captain: Jeff Forrest, LMT
A post-event massage center will be in John Hancock Hall’s Dorothy Quincy Suite (Berkeley Street building). Massage therapists provide post-event therapy, including emergency cramp management and care for injuries. Volunteers will distribute water, assist with table set-up, move supplies, and escort athletes. Therapists are responsible for supplying their own equipment.

1920 - Ashland Start

The Boston Marathon began in Ashland, Massachusetts from 1897 through 1923 then moved to Hopkinton for the 1924 race.  Since then, the race has started in Hopkinton every year.
