The B.A.A. prides itself in staging the best-organized and most runner-friendly race in the world. Treating athletes courteously eases their anxieties and gives them positive memories of their Boston experience. This experience starts with pre-race activities, which build excitement for the runners.

During race weekend, an information kiosk will be located in the number pick-up area at the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo. Information will be provided, including maps of the start and finish areas, athlete transportation, and details on the Boston Marathon schedule of events.

Pasta Party

Saturday, April 14, 2012  and Sunday, April 15, 2012
The Boston Marathon Pre-Race Dinner, held at Boston City Hall Plaza on Sunday, April 17, will serve dinner and provide entertainment for the thousands of athletes completing their preparations for the Boston Marathon. Volunteer duties include ushering and directing athletes and their guests, setting tables, serving food and beverages, greeting guests, and collecting tickets. You will be given a specific assignment upon arrival. Volunteers should dress in warm layers, as they will be working outside.

When many think of the Boston Marathon, they think of Team Hoyt, the father/son team of Dick and Rick who have participated in their unique way 28 times. Dick was 69 at the 2010 Boston Marathon.
