Event Information: Volunteer Registration

Volunteering for the Boston Marathon

Thank you for your interest in becoming a 2014 Boston Marathon volunteer.

The registration window to submit a volunteer application was December 9, 2013 through January 6, 2014. We are no longer accepting volunteer applications for the 2014 Boston Marathon and B.A.A. 5K.

If you have already registered and received a confirmation number for your application, assignment notifications were emailed on February 24, 2014. If you did not receive, and therefore did not confirm, the email, we will send you a paper copy the week of March 10, 2014. We value the experience, time, and energy of our loyal volunteers, and we look forward to your generous support this April.

As in previous years, not all who submitted a volunteer application have been granted a volunteer assignment. This year, we received 5,000 more volunteer applications than available volunteer positions and we are unable to accept thousands of interested potential volunteers. Volunteer assignments have been made based on B.A.A. volunteer history and through references.

We understand how deeply people feel about their reactions to the tragic events of last April, and we know that many people want to express their support for the City of Boston and the Boston Marathon. We invite you to do so by joining the Boston Marathon World Run, a new mobile application and website that connects runners from around the world to the 2014 Boston Marathon. Anyone, regardless of ability or geography, can run a distance of their choosing and participate in the athletic spirit of the event. We hope that you will also take part in the Boston Marathon by joining with hundreds of thousands of spectators who will cheer on the participants in this year’s Marathon every step of the way.

The B.A.A. hosts other athletic events throughout the year, and we encourage you to click here for more information about other volunteer opportunities.
