UPDATE: Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester is now ONLY accepting applications from qualified entrants, who have already secured their 2013 Boston Marathon race entry with the B.A.A.

The three Clubhouses of Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester serve more than 4,000 children and offer more than 200 programs in education, athletics, aquatics, social recreation, art, music, nutrition and wellness, childcare, college and career preparation, and more. Each member has access to these programs for only $5 per year. Funds raised through the Marathon Program will allow us to continue to serve our community’s youth and provide a safe, fun and educational alternative to the streets. 1972 - Women Official Entrants in Marathon

Although Bobbi Gibb was the first woman to complete the Boston Marathon in 1966, it was not until the 1972 Boston Marathon that women could become official entrants due to a change in AAU rules.
