The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Massachusetts Chapter (Team in Training) is no longer accepting applications for the 2014 Boston Marathon. Qualified runners that have been accepted in the 2014 Boston Marathon are invited to contact us for more information about joining our team.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a national voluntary health organization whose mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. Team In Training is the Society's signature fundraising campaign. It is the first, largest, and most successful endurance sports training program of its kind. To date, Team In Training has trained over a half a million athletes and raised over $1.2 billion dollars nationally in the race to find a cure for blood cancers.

1996 - Centennial Boston Marathon

The historic centennial Boston Marathon in 1996 was monumental for many reasons. It was the not only the first time that the ChampionChip timing and scoring device was used in a major US Marathon, but it was the largest running event ever held at the time. 

The starting field of 38,708 stood for more than seven years as the largest in the history of the sport. Included among the finishers were 16 Boston champions.
