Gatorade

The Gatorade Company, a division of PepsiCo (NYSE: PEP), has been a proud sponsor of the B.A.A. and the Boston Marathon since 1992. Gatorade’s products are enjoyed by participants before, during, and after the B.A.A. 5K, the B.A.A. 10K, the B.A.A. Half Marathon, and the Boston Marathon.

Boston Marathon participants can expect to see Gatorade in the Athletes’ Village in Hopkinton before the race with Gatorade’s Endurance Prime and Endurance Formula; at 25 hydration stations along the course with Lemon-Lime Endurance Formula; and in the finish area on Boylston Street with a recovery beverage to help runners refuel their bodies.

The Gatorade Endurance line of products is designed specifically for endurance athletes who have specific fueling needs, and is grounded in years of hydration and sports nutrition research. Gatorade Endurance products are available at run, bike, and tri specialty stores nationwide.

B.A.A. Moment 3

1966 - Bobbi Gibb

Although not an official entrant, Roberta “Bobbi” Gibb became the first woman to run the Boston Marathon. Joining the starting field shortly after the gun had been fired, Gibb finished the race in 3:21:40 to place 126th overall. Gibb again claimed the “unofficial” title in 1967 and 1968.
