To qualify for the Boston Marathon, athletes must meet time standards which correspond to age and gender. For the 2019 Boston Marathon, qualifying times must be run on or after Saturday, September 16, 2017.
Athlete registration for the 2019 Boston Marathon opens on Monday, September 10, 2018. The B.A.A. will use the same process as in recent years, allowing for the fastest runners to submit for registration first.
Not everyone can qualify for Boston. But you can gain entry by raising valuable funds for worthy organizations.

The recommended way to get to the start in Hopkinton on race morning is by using the official B.A.A. buses.
Buses from Boston and Hopkinton parking areas will drop you off at Hopkinton High/Middle School, where you will enter the Athletes’ Village, a large staging area where you will have time to relax and stretch.
The B.A.A. uses a timing tag attached to the back of your bib number to score. Athletes have six hours from the time the last starter crosses the finish line to complete the race.
Although we make every effort to provide a safe and memorable marathon experience, successful completion of this race requires careful preparation on the part of each participant.
