Established in 1969 as an emergency shelter, Pine Street Inn has evolved to become the leading and largest nonprofit resource for individuals experiencing homelessness in New England. Today, Pine Street Inn partners with over 6,000 individuals each year, providing short- and long-term solutions to help them leave homelessness behind and rebuild their lives.
While homelessness is complex, we know it can be solved. We are committed to meeting basic human needs while also providing long-term solutions through permanent supportive housing and innovative programs designed to end homelessness earlier and faster for many.
Pine Street Inn’s ability to support our guests and tenants in their journey out of homelessness depends on the generosity and dedication of our community of donors and volunteers, including the runners on our 2024 Boston Marathon Team.
Each runner on Pine Street Inn’s Marathon Team receives:
- Training and conditioning support from veteran runners and group practice runs;
- Fundraising support to maximize giving and help them meet their goal;
- Volunteer opportunities at Pine Street Inn and a special dinner with their supporters the week before the marathon.
Since 2004, Pine Street Inn has cheered on more than 130 marathon runners, who have raised more than $1 million toward our mission to end homelessness. We are thrilled to participate in the 2024 Bank of American Boston Marathon Official Charity Program and extremely grateful to the Boston Athletic Association for carrying on this beloved Boston tradition.
