Walker
PLEASE NOTE THAT WALKER IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THEIR 128TH BOSTON MARATHON TEAM.
Founded in 1961, Walker has long been known for providing high-quality clinical, residential, and educational programs to children, youth, and families from diverse backgrounds throughout Massachusetts. Today, Walker operates a continuum of care that includes therapeutic schools and residential programs, outpatient and in-home behavioral health services, and youth development programs. Walker’s mission is to transform the lives of children and youth who are facing complex emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges by partnering with these children and youth, their families, and communities to nurture hope, build strengths, and develop lifelong skills.
Walker’s services reach approximately 670 children, youth, and families from 125 communities in Massachusetts each year. Walker works with many vulnerable populations; the people we serve may have experienced poverty, domestic violence, community violence, immigration trauma, substance abuse, discrimination, and other challenging experiences. Many children in our care have experienced trauma in their lives that continues to impact their mental health.
