Held throughout Boston, the Neighborhood Fitness Series features free walk/runs of varying distances, family-friendly activities, and a celebration of getting active.

Registration is free and open to all ages and abilities. Pre-register for updates on the event and to stay up-to-date on future events.

Start your fitness journey

Not sure how to get started with running and walking? Here are some resources to get you started.

Wear comfortable socks and sneakers

Wear cushioned, moisture-wicking socks and well-fitted sneakers with good support to stay comfortable and prevent blisters or injury.

Hydrate and fuel before you start

Stay hydrated by drinking water before, during, and after your run. Listen to your body and sip regularly; don’t wait to feel thirsty.

Invite friends or family to join you

Invite friends and family to join you! It’s more fun, keeps you motivated, and builds shared goals one step at a time.

Start slow and steady

Start slow to build stamina, prevent injury, and enjoy the process. Small steps lead to big progress.

Track your progress

Track your runs to stay motivated and see progress. Apps, journals, or a simple log help you set goals, spot improvements, and stay consistent.

Most importantly, have fun!

Keep running fun! Choose scenic routes, play your favorite music, or run with a friend. Enjoying it makes you more likely to stick with it.
