John Hancock Announces 2018 Boston Marathon U.S. Elite Field

15 Member Team includes Olympic, World and Pan-American Medalists, Abbott World Marathon Majors Champions, and North American Record Holders

BOSTON, MA - John Hancock today announced its strongest U.S. Elite Team since its principal sponsorship began in 1986. The team, recruited to compete against an accomplished international field, will challenge for the coveted olive wreath on Patriots’ Day, April 16, 2018.

B.A.A. Women’s team and Men’s Masters team place second at National Championships

BOSTON – B.A.A. High Performance team member Sarah Pagano won the USATF National Club Cross Country Championships earlier today in Lexington, Kentucky, earning the first individual national title of her career. Covering the six-kilometer course in 19:40, Pagano led the B.A.A. to second place finish in the Women’s open team competition with 60 points.

BOSTON – The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced that Dr. Michael P. O’Leary has been elected B.A.A. President by the B.A.A. Board of Governors. O’Leary succeeds Joann Flaminio, the first female President in B.A.A. history, whose term ended this year after serving in the position since 2011.

Boston, MA -- Kenyans Daniel Salel and Joan Chelimo swept the top spots at today’s 17th annual B.A.A. Half Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. Salel completed the three-peat, running away from a large lead pack in the final two miles before breaking the tape in 1:04:31.

BOSTON - The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today continued its notification to applicants of their acceptance into the 2018 Boston Marathon®. In preparation for the 2018 Boston Marathon, the B.A.A. implemented the same registration process for qualified runners as it used in the 2012 through 2017 Boston Marathons, allowing the fastest qualifiers to register first. The 122nd Boston Marathon will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 and will mark the 33rd consecutive year that the event will have John Hancock as its principal sponsor.
