Registration for the 2018 Boston Marathon Closes

Maximum number of runners to submit a qualifying time has now been reached.

BOSTON, Mass. - Registration for the 2018 Boston Marathon began on September 11, and the maximum number of athletes who qualified and applied for entry has now been reached. The Boston Marathon does not have a waiting list, late registration on race weekend, or race day registration. Neither entry nor bibs may be transferred.

Terrence Mahon to Complete Work as Director of B.A.A. High Performance Program

California native to return to west coast at the conclusion of 2017

Registration for the 2018 Boston Marathon Opens Monday, September 11

Field size will be 30,000 official entrants for the 122nd running on April 16

BOSTON -- Registration for the 2018 Boston Marathon opens on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. ET. The B.A.A. will use the same process to register qualified runners as it used in the 2012 through 2017 Boston Marathons, allowing the fastest qualifiers to register first.

Registration will be held entirely online at www.baa.org, and qualifying performances run since September 17, 2016 may be submitted for entry.

B.A.A. Names Marla Runyan Athletes with Disabilities Manager

SUH Yun-Bok

1947 Boston Marathon champion passed away at the age of 94

SUH Yun-Bok, the 1947 Boston Marathon champion from Korea, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 94. Suh was the first Asian champion of the Boston Marathon, setting a then-world record of 2:25:39. It was the first world record ever set on the roads leading to Boston. Suh was an Olympian in 1948, and served as a sports administrator in South Korea for many years. 

Boston Marathon Fundraising Raises $34.2 Million in 2017 Race

12% increase from the 2016 race

BOSTON, June 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Boston Marathon participants who ran on behalf of more than 200 non-profit organizations raised $34.2 million for charity in the 121st year of the historic race. The fundraising total represents a twelve percent increase, or $3.6 million, over 2016's results.

Total funds include $17.96 million raised through the Boston Athletic Association's Official Charity Program, $12.3 million raised through John Hancock's Non-Profit Program, and $3.97 million from other qualified and invitational runners.

Chebii and Chelimo Secure Kenyan Sweep at B.A.A. 10K

BOSTON (25-June) - On a picture-perfect summer morning for racing through downtown Boston, Kenya’s Daniel Chebii and Joan Chelimo ran to victories at the seventh annual B.A.A. 10K, presented by Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Chebii retained his title with a time of 27:58, while Chelimo earned her first win in Boston in 31:24. A total of 8,135 participants completed this year’s race, which started and finished at Boston Common.

On Sunday, June 25, 2017, the Boston Athletic Association will host the seventh annual B.A.A. 10K, presented by Brigham and Women’s Hospital, which will be the B.A.A.’s first event following its successful 121st Boston Marathon on Monday, April 17.

Start and Finish Location: Charles Street between Boston Common and Boston Public Garden

Distance: 10K (6.2 miles)
