Hale

If providing healthy living and outdoor education opportunities for low-income Boston students resonates with you, we encourage you to apply and “Run like Hale!” Our team’s fundraising efforts support two programs focused on Boston Public Schools (BPS) students: Hale Outdoor Learning Adventures (HOLA) and Intrepid Academy at Hale (IAH).

HOLA campers are part of the 5th Quarter of Learning initiative, a public-private partnership that provides summer learning opportunities to Boston students. HOLA seeks to prevent summer learning loss, encourage academic gains and healthy physical activity, and develop social-emotional skills during the summer months so students are ready to begin the next grade in the fall.

IAH launched in January 2018. This 18 week, outdoor program breaks down the walls of conventional schools, gets BPS high school students outside, and enables them to earn traditional course credits through a nontraditional, active educational experiences.

Programs like HOLA and IAH are often limited to more affluent populations. At Hale, we are closing the opportunity gap by working with students who otherwise may never have access to such experiences. We know time actively spent outdoors leads to mental stimulation, has numerous health benefits, and is paramount for development.

By representing Team Hale, you’ll join us in supporting this important work, and will serve as a role model for Boston’s youth.
