Herren Project is part of a larger community, established by former NBA player Chris Herren, focused on preventing substance misuse and guiding individuals and families through the recovery process. Since 2011, Herren Project has aided thousands of individuals and families struggling with the disease of addiction. Our impact is personal as we work with individuals in all aspects of their lives to build and sustain long-term recovery.
Team Herren Project began in 2014 when Herren Project was awarded three bibs through the John Hancock Boston Marathon Charity Program. On Monday, April 21, 2014, Herren Project founder, Chris Herren and Executive Director, Kevin Mikolazyk, stepped off from the Hopkinton starting line and ran those 26.2 miles to Boston. Since then, Herren Project has grown into a dynamic team of more than 650 walkers/runners/athletes across the country, raising more than $1.4 million for Herren Project programs. The team has represented in over 255 races in 32 states and 3 countries, using the power of sport, trust and relationship building to grow good, in the greater Boston area and beyond.
