ABOUT THE CLIMATE CREW TEAM
The B.A.A. Climate Crew raises funds to support the B.A.A.’s sustainability initiatives including:
- Reusable cups
- Biodegradable food bags
- Electric buses
- Sustainable portable toilets at events
- And more!
A minimum fundraising commitment of $1,500 is required to participate and receive team perks. Applicants must not already be fundraising on behalf of a member of the Bank of America Boston Marathon Official Charity Program.

Athletics for a Better World Silver Standard
The 2026 Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America was the first Abbott World Marathon Major to achieve silver status in 2026. The Athletics for a Better World Standard (ABW) is an evaluation system developed by World Athletics that measures and scores an event’s achievement in sustainable delivery across six areas of focus.
The ABW Standard consists of 55 action areas that address all levels of event delivery. The primary objective of the ABW Standard is to reduce environmental impacts, increase social and local economic benefits, and contribute to a cleaner, greener, and more equitable world.
