B.A.A. to Launch Athletes’ Village Virtual Community for Runners of All Levels

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has announced the upcoming launch of Athletes’ Village, a virtual community for runners of all levels and abilities. Athletes’ Village will be a virtual hub for free monthly challenges as well as paid training programs, and will serve as a central location for participant and volunteer history, official race results, race updates, and race registration. The B.A.A. seeks to engage with 125,000 athletes worldwide through the online Athletes' Village in honor of and leading up to next year's 125th Boston Marathon.

Anna Rohrer and Jonas Hampton join Team B.A.A.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced the addition of Anna Rohrer and Jonas Hampton to the B.A.A. High Performance Team. Rohrer, an eight-time All-American at Notre Dame, and Hampton, the eighth place finisher at February’s U.S. Olympic Trials – Men’s Marathon, will be coached by B.A.A. High Performance Coach Mark Carroll in Boston. The B.A.A.’s High Performance Team is sponsored by adidas.

Boston Marathon Fundraising Surpasses $400 Million Milestone

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has announced that $32.1 million was raised for 242 non-profit organizations surrounding the 2020 Boston Marathon and Boston Marathon Virtual Experience. With this year’s funds raised, the B.A.A. Official Charity Program and John Hancock’s Non-Profit Program have combined to surpass the $400 million milestone raised since the charity program’s inception at the 1989 Boston Marathon.

124th Boston Marathon Virtual Experience Features More Than 15,900 Finishers

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has announced that 15,972 participants—89 percent of the entrant field—from 83 countries completed the Boston Marathon Virtual Experience. Bringing the Boston Marathon to communities near and far, participants had from September 5 through September 14 to cover 26.2-miles in one continuous run within their neighborhood to earn their B.A.A. unicorn medal and be recognized as a Boston Marathon finisher.

Black Hawk Flyover & Mile 27 Post-Race Party presented by Samuel Adams Caps off Boston Marathon Virtual Experience Race Week

On Monday, September 14 two MEDEVAC HH-60 Black Hawks will fly over the Boston Marathon course, crossing the start line in Hopkinton at 10:00AM and following the race route into Boston. The flyover will recognize the originally postponed Boston Marathon date and honor frontline workers who have continued to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Black Hawks will originate from Army Aviation Support Facility Number 2 at Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport and will be supported by a crew of six:

B.A.A. Announces COVID-19 Medical & Event Operations Advisory Group; Postpones Registration for 2021 Boston Marathon

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has announced the formation of a COVID-19 Medical & Event Operations Advisory Group, comprised of medical, public safety, and race operations experts, as well as city and state officials. The group will establish a framework to advise the B.A.A.’s leadership, board of directors, and staff on when, and how, the Boston Marathon and other large, in-person B.A.A. road races can be held safely again.

Boston Marathon Champion Ambassadors Announced for 124th Boston Marathon Virtual Experience

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) and Boston Marathon principal sponsor John Hancock have announced that reigning wheelchair champion Daniel Romanchuk, 2018 winner Des Linden, five-time wheelchair champion Tatyana McFadden, and 2014 victor Meb Keflezighi will serve as Champion Ambassadors for the 124th Boston Marathon Virtual Experience.
