Special Olympics Massachusetts to field team of fundraisers surrounding the B.A.A. 5K

BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced that Special Olympics Massachusetts has been named the Official Fundraising Partner of the B.A.A. 5K. Using the power of sport to bring people together, Special Olympics Massachusetts will feature a fundraising team at next year’s B.A.A. 5K, to be held on Saturday, April 18 – two days prior to the 124th running of the Boston Marathon.

2020 Boston Marathon To Serve As U.S. Paralympic Team Selection Event

Eligible T45/T46 and T11/T12 Para Athletes to compete in Boston for spots on Team USA for the 2020 Paralympic Games 

BOSTON – The Boston Athletic Association and United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) today announced that the 124th Boston Marathon will serve as the 2020 U.S. Paralympic Team Selection Event for the marathon distance. The top two U.S. men and women across the finish line that meet the U.S. Paralympic Track & Field qualifying standards in select ambulatory classifications will be nominated to the U.S.

Champions Crowned at 2019 Boston Middle School Cross Country Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – Earlier today, champions were crowned at the 2019 Boston Middle School Cross Country Championships. Hosted by the Boston Athletic Association at Franklin Park, more than 300 middle school student-athletes from the City of Boston competed over a 1.1-mile course. Since 1997, the B.A.A. has hosted the Boston Middle School Cross Country Championships in an effort to celebrate healthy lifestyles and promote physical fitness among Boston youths.

Pair of Course Records Fall at 2019 B.A.A. Half Marathon

BOSTON (13-October) -- On a picture-perfect day for road racing, 6,341 participants took part in today’s 19th annual B.A.A. Half Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.  Kenyans swept the top spots of the podium, as Brillian Kipkoech set a new women’s course record of 1:07:40 and Philemon Kiplimo broke the tape in 1:01:58 to win the men’s title. In the wheelchair division, Massachusetts native Katrina Gerhard set a course record, and University of Arizona student-athlete Miguel Vergara topped Tony Nogueira in a photo-finish. 

2019 B.A.A. Half Marathon

The B.A.A. Half Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, highlights the beauty of Boston and Brookline's Emerald Necklace park system while furthering the B.A.A.'s mission of promoting health and fitness. Registration opens on Wednesday, July 17 at 10:00 a.m. ET. The field size limit is 9,000 entrants, with already 3,133 entrants pre-registered through the 2019 B.A.A. Distance Medley.
