124th Boston Marathon Postponed to September 14

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has been meeting regularly with city and state officials to discuss all updates related to the coronavirus (COVID-19). Governor Charlie Baker declared a state of emergency on March 10, 2020. In consideration of this and guided by Boston Mayor Martin Walsh along with state and municipal government leaders at all levels to undertake all possible measures to safeguard the health of the public, the B.A.A. understands the city’s decision that the Boston Marathon cannot be held on April 20, 2020.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has announced that Olympic legend and adidas athlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Paralympian Femita Ayanbeku will be among the elite ambassadors attending this Sunday’s Boston Marathon Youth Jamboree at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Roxbury. This year’s Jamboree coincides with, and will celebrate, International Women’s Day.

Team B.A.A. sends 14 athletes to compete at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon

Boston-based running club to race for spots on Team U.S.A. on February 29

BOSTON—The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) will send 14 members of the organization’s High Performance and Racing teams—the largest contingent among any running club in America—to compete at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Men’s and Women’s Marathon in Atlanta on February 29. The top three finishers in both races will earn automatic bids to represent Team U.S.A. at the Olympic Marathons as part of this summer’s Olympic Games in Japan.

124th running of the world’s oldest annual marathon to be held on April 20, 2020

BOSTON - The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced the start times for the 124th running of the Boston Marathon, to be held on April 20, 2020. A field of 31,500 participants will make their way from Hopkinton to Boston on Patriots’ Day. For the 35th year, the Boston Marathon is principally sponsored by John Hancock.

B.A.A. High Performance Team adds pair of NCAA All-Americans

BOSTON – The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced the addition of Jerrell Mock and Cole Rockhold to the B.A.A. High Performance Team. The pair, who both ran for Colorado State University, add depth to the B.A.A.’s roster of middle- and long-distance specialists. Mock and Rockhold will be coached by B.A.A. High Performance Coach Mark Carroll. The B.A.A.’s High Performance team is sponsored by adidas.
