To Our 2018 Boston Marathon Volunteers
We have received countless notes of admiration and gratitude for the inspiring effort shown by the 2018 Boston Marathon Volunteer Corps. There is no one more deserving of this praise than you, and on behalf of the B.A.A. Board of Governors, staff, and all participants, thank you for your incredible volunteer service at the 2018 Boston Marathon.
As a collective effort, B.A.A. volunteers touched every aspect of the race weekend experience. Before the athletes even started their journey from Hopkinton to Boston, you stuffed packets and then distributed them at the John Hancock Sports and Fitness Expo; served pasta at the Pre-Race Dinner; and supported 10,000 participants at the B.A.A. 5K.
On a race day with absolutely miserable weather conditions, you performed every necessary task without complaint and with contagious energy. You guided athletes on their way to Hopkinton and welcomed them with open arms when they arrived. You carried them along the course and encouraged so many who needed someone to believe in them. After they crossed the Finish Line, you celebrated their accomplishment and warmed them with your smiling faces. We are truly in awe of your commitment to our mission and to our participants. We are already looking forward to the 2019 Boston Marathon and hope that you will join us again to bring to life the best marathon in the world!
