From when you receive your acceptance card to the time you arrive in Boston for the race, the Boston Athletic Association will be providing you with all the necessary information you need in order to get the most out of your experience. Check our your Road to Boston, presented by CITGO.

Allowable and Prohibited Items

In consultation with public safety officials and in order to ensure the safety of all Boston Marathon participants, spectators, and partners, the B.A.A. will enforce the following rules on race day.
John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo

Learn all you need to know about the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo. This event is also where participants need to pick up their bib number for the race.

Gear Check

Participants may check their plastic finish area gear bag at designated gear check tents on Boylston Street between Arlington and Berkeley Streets. Participants will also receive a small, one gallon plastic Start Area Bag that will be allowed on B.A.A. buses and in the Athletes’ Village.

Transportation to the Start Line - NEW LOCATION

The recommended way to get to the start in Hopkinton on race morning is by using the official B.A.A. buses beginning at 6:00 a.m. Bus loading will take place on Charles Street between the Public Garden and Boston Common.
