BOSTON (19-April) — On a long-awaited April morning that finally sang of spring, a multi-national quartet led a field of 9,137 finishers in the 15th-annual Boston 5K presented by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care – this year on a new course that ended at the Boston Marathon finish line.

BOSTON – Global medalists, Boston champions, and U.S. stars are set to compete as part of the Boston 5K presented by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and B.A.A. Invitational Mile on Saturday, April 19, kicking off Boston Marathon weekend with racing through Boston’s Back Bay. More than 100 professional athletes from around the globe will compete across the two events. 

In our final installment of our City & Town features this marathon cycle, we learn about Bethany Hill Place in Framingham and Boston’s Animal Shelter and Fund for Animal Care – highlighting the reach and impact that the marathon has across a range of organizations along the route. 

With just a few short weeks until race day runners and leaders from these organizations share the importance of the marathon for them and the work they do year-round.
