Spectator Tips & Guidelines

What to know before Sunday's Boston Half.

The race starts in Franklin Park at 8:00 a.m., and top finishers are anticipated to cross the finish line by 9:00 a.m.

There is no parking within Franklin Park for spectators or participants.

Streets and roadways which comprise and abut the Half course will be closed to vehicular traffic at approximately 7:30 a.m. on race day. View a map of affected streets and detour information.

Community members and participants are encouraged to download the Waze app for the most up-to-date information on road closures.

  • Riverway (From Pond Av to Park Dr)

THERE IS NO PARKING AVAILABLE IN FRANKLIN PARK FOR PARTICIPANTS OR SPECTATORS.


The B.A.A. provides transportation race morning for runners, volunteers, and families from Copley Square and Forest Hills MBTA station. Shuttles will run consistently race morning starting at 5:30AM and dropping off on Seaver Street outside of Franklin Park. Return shuttles to Copley Square and Forrest Hills will also pickup on Seaver Street following the race until 12:00PM. Family-friendly buses will be available at both transportation locations. 

Anyone planning to use a rideshare service on race morning should use 168 Seaver Street for a convenient drop off location.

Community members and participants are encouraged to download the Waze app for the most up-to-date information on road closures.

No parking is available at Franklin Park for participants or spectators.

Spectators are not allowed to enter the course, run alongside athletes, or impede athletes in any manner. Security personnel, public safety representatives, and Race Officials will be located throughout the course.

Please be respectful of the environment and community. Spectators are asked not to throw anything onto the course, including but not limited to confetti or streamers. Please pick up any trash from your area, and respect traditional carry-in, carry-out standards.

The B.A.A. and all public safety agencies encourage the public to actively participate in the See Something Say Something campaign. Spectators are asked to be aware of their surroundings and to report suspicious conduct or items to the closest law enforcement officer or by calling 9-1-1.

The Course

Dear Community Member:

On Sunday, November 9, 2025, the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) will host the annual Boston Half Marathon (BHM), presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund.

We are excited to return to Franklin Park and take our 9,000 participants through Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, and along the Emerald Necklace. The course has been updated for this year, including more of Roxbury, Mattapan and Dorchester.

We will once again have musical entertainment to help our runners over the rolling hills and challenging miles   You can enjoy this entertainment at Franklin Park; Morton Street & Canterbury Lane; Francis Parkman Drive, and on the Riverway just before Park Drive. Please refer to the map at the end of this notice.

We hope the Boston Half is a real celebration of community and running, and we encourage everyone to come out and help cheer on the participants as they enjoy passing through your neighborhood.

For those with children aged 4-14, we will have kids races in Franklin Park kicking off at 8:15 am. Meet at Franklin Park Playstead and get ready to warmup, run and have fun.

Here is some key information for you to make sure you are fully informed:

The Course: The race begins at Franklin Park (Pierpont Rd). Runners will head towards Circuit Drive and turn left to head down Morton Street, before turning around just before Harvard Street. Runners will continue all the way up the Arborway, then turn left on Francis Parkman Drive followed by a right turn onto Perkins Street to follow Jamaica Pond up to Pond Ave. Runners will take a right before hitting Washington Street to connect to the Jamaicaway. After turning left onto the Jamaicaway, they will continue through the Jamaicaway and Riverway. Runners will turnaround just before Park Drive and head back towards the Jamaicaway. Runners will return to Circuit Drive via the Arborway to make their way to the finish line in Franklin Park’s Pierpont Rd. 

ROAD CLOSURE INFORMATION

Streets and roadways which comprise the course will be closed to vehicular traffic on the morning of November 9 from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The timing of the reopening of the roads will be decided by Boston Police and Massachusetts State Police.

NO PARKING will be posted and enforced throughout all aforementioned streets along the route as well as on the Franklin Park side of Seaver Street from 12 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sunday morning for shuttle buses to pick-up and drop-off participants.

Recorrido

La carrera comienza en Franklin Park (Pierpont Rd). Los corredores se dirigirán hacia Circuit Drive y girarán a la izquierda hacia Morton Street, donde darán la vuelta justo antes de Harvard Street. Continuarán por el Arborway, luego girarán a la izquierda en Francis Parkman Drive y a la derecha en Perkins Street, bordeando Jamaica Pond hasta Pond Ave.
