Race Weekend Events
Including Expo, 5K, and Fan Fest
- The Boston Marathon Expo is located at the Hynes Convention Center, 900 Boylston Street. Volunteers should enter through the Prudential Center entrance inside the Mall.
- Volunteer check in is located in room 102.
- Expo assignments include: Expo Ambassadors, adidas and B.A.A. Merchandise Sales, Shirt Distribution, and Bib Distribution
- The Boston 5K takes place in Back Bay. All volunteers will check in at the volunteer tent on the corner of Berkeley St and Boylston Street (in front of Restoration Hardware), unless specifically told otherwise from their team captains.
- Medical Volunteers and Amateur Radio Volunteers will check in at the Dartmouth Medical Tent.
- Boston Marathon Fan Fest is located at City Hall Plaza.
- The Copley MBTA Station on the Green Line will be open for weekend assignments.
- Copley Station is closed on Monday April 21, 2025.
- The Back Bay MBTA Station on the Orange Line will be open for race day Copley Square area assignments.
Start Area Assignments
Including Athletes' Village, Start, and Hopkinton
- Parking for volunteers will be available at 176 South Street, Hopkinton, MA.
- Shuttles to the Middle School begin at 5:15am and end at 7:15am. The ride will take 15 minutes. Arrive with plenty of time to get to the Middle School for your shift Check In Time.
- Shuttles will bring volunteers to the Hopkinton Middle School Gym where volunteer check in will take place.
- Shuttles will start bringing volunteers back to 176 South Street after the conclusion of assignments.
- THERE WILL BE NO VOLUNTEER PARKING AT THE HOPKINTON MIDDLE SCHOOL.
- There will be a shuttle from Boston leaving at 5:15am on race morning. If you would like to reserve a space on the shuttle, email volunteer@baa.org. Shuttle spaces are first come, first serve.
- All start area volunteers, unless specifically told by your team captain or area lead, will check in at the Hopkinton Middle School.
- At check in, volunteers will receive their official Boston Marathon Volunteer jacket and race credential. Both must be worn for the duration of the assignment.
- Bagels and coffee will be provided at check in.
On Course Assignments
Hydration Stations, Course Medical Stations, Mile Markers, Course Clocks, and Crossing Marshals
- Hydration volunteers are responsible for getting themselves to their assigned locations on race day.
- Some stations are accessible by the MBTA.
- Parking on the Boston Marathon course will NOT be permitted.
- Please see the map below if you need help find the location of your hydration station. You can also ask your team captain for parking or other arrival information.

Finish Area Assignments
Bus Loading, Gear Check, Event Marshals, Finish Amenities, and Boston Medical Tents
- Unless otherwise noted, Finish Area Volunteer Check-in meetings will take place at the Park Plaza Hotel Terrace Hotel, 50 Park Plaza, Boston, MA 02116.
- Exceptions to this check in location include AM Gear Check, and AM Bus Loading. Your assignment email will detail where to go on race morning.
- Parking in Boston is limited and we regret that we cannot make parking available.
- The MBTA is a good option to get to your assignment location. The closest T stop is the Arlington Green Line station. Please note that Copley Station will be closed on race day.
