John Hancock Financial today announced the return of 2015 Boston Marathon champions Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia and Caroline Rotich of Kenya for the 120th running of the race on April 18, 2016.

We are thinking of you and offer our support if you are experiencing distress as a result. Such events have the potential to trigger flashbacks and emotional distress.

Using strong surges in the final mile, Oregon's Trevor Dunbar and Boston's own Liz Costello claimed titles here at the 25th Boston Mayor's Cup Cross Country meet, held at iconic Franklin Park. The meet, organized by the B.A.A. and USATF New England with support from adidas and with cooperation from Boston Parks & Recreation, took place on a chilly, damp, and windy morning - making for a true cross country event.

Sixteen schools and more than 270 youth student-athletes from the City of Boston competed at today's Boston Middle School Cross Country Championships, hosted by the Boston Athletic Association with adidas at Franklin Park. The 19th annual Championships are held with the support of the Boston Public Schools and the Boston Parks & Recreation Department.

Today, the Boston Athletic Association announced that American Olympic hopeful Mary Cain will race the 2015 Boston Mayor’s Cup Cross Country meet on Sunday, October 25, at Franklin Park in Boston. Cain, who represented Team USA at the 2013 IAAF World Championships in the 1500 meters, will be making her debut at the event, which is in its 25th year.

Kenyans Daniel Salel and Mary Wacera made triumphant returns to Boston today, claiming wins here at the 15th annual B.A.A. Half Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. Making decisive moves in the final mile, Salel and Wacera entered Franklin Park's White Stadium out front, securing their first B.A.A. Half Marathon titles with times of 1:00:56 and 1:10:21, respectively. Under crystal clear skies (and a comfortable temperature of 49-degrees F), a field of 6,412 athletes started the race.

The Boston Athletic Association announced today the elite field for the 15th annual B.A.A. Half Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. Headlining the professional field are this year’s Boston Marathon champion Caroline Rotich, as well as two-time defending B.A.A. Distance Medley victor Stephen Sambu. Both are from Kenya. The B.A.A. Half Marathon will be run on Sunday, October 11, 2015, beginning and finishing in Boston’s Franklin Park.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today continued its notification to applicants of their acceptance into the 2016 Boston Marathon®. In preparation for the 2016 Boston Marathon, the B.A.A. implemented the same registration process for qualified runners as it used in the 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 Marathons, allowing the fastest qualifiers to register first. The 120th Boston Marathon will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016 and will mark the 31st consecutive year that the event will have John Hancock Financial as its principal sponsor.

Registration for the 2016 Boston Marathon has now closed. The registration process for the 2016 Boston Marathon began on September 14, and the maximum number of athletes who ran a qualifying performance and submitted their application for entry has now been reached. Registration will not reopen.

21 SEP 2015

Registration for the 2016 Boston Marathon will re-open on Monday morning (September 21) for all qualifiers who have met the standard by any amount of time. This next phase of registration will occur from Monday at 10:00 a.m. ET through Wednesday, September 23 at 5:00 p.m. ET.
