Longstanding relationship that began at the Boston Marathon in 1984 now encompasses the full portfolio of B.A.A. events
The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) and MarathonFoto today announced an extension of their longstanding partnership through 2033, continuing a relationship that began more than four decades ago at the Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America.
MarathonFoto first photographed the Boston Marathon in 1984, beginning a partnership built around capturing and celebrating the achievements of athletes taking part in one of the world’s most historic and iconic sporting events.
Over the years, that relationship has grown beyond the Boston Marathon to include the full calendar of B.A.A. events. MarathonFoto now provides official event photography for the Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America, each of the B.A.A. Distance Medley presented by Honda events (Boston 5K presented by Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute, B.A.A. 10K presented by Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute, and Boston Half presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund), as well as the B.A.A. Youth Mile and the Shoreline 5K.
The extended agreement will keep MarathonFoto behind the lens at B.A.A. events through 2033, marking nearly 50 years of collaboration by the conclusion of the agreement.
“MarathonFoto is incredibly proud to continue our partnership with the Boston Athletic Association,” said Brad Kroll, President of MarathonFoto. “Our team is passionate about celebrating and inspiring the athletes who participate in B.A.A. events, and there is something especially meaningful about capturing the determination, emotion and achievement of athletes at the historic Boston Marathon. To have a relationship that began in 1984 continue to grow more than four decades later is something our entire team values tremendously.”
Through its event photography and technology, MarathonFoto works to capture each athlete’s race-day story — from the energy and determination along the course to the celebration of crossing the finish line. The expanded partnership reflects a shared commitment by the B.A.A. and MarathonFoto to creating memorable experiences for athletes across the B.A.A.’s entire event portfolio.
“MarathonFoto has been part of the Boston Marathon experience for more than four decades, capturing countless moments that represent what make our events and the running community so meaningful,” said Jack Fleming, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Boston Athletic Association. “We value partners who elevate our participant and event experience, and MarathonFoto does that by showcasing the energy of our events, from the mile to marathon distances. Athletes can expect to see many MarathonFoto photographers at our events for years to come.”
The partnership extension builds upon one of the longest-running relationships in MarathonFoto’s history and reinforces the company’s commitment to documenting the moments that define the endurance sports experience.
